Madison College District Board Extends Presidential Search Timeline and President Daniels’ Term
The Madison College District Board of Trustees announced during its February 7, 2024 board meeting that it will be extending the timeframe for Madison College’s presidential search.
This decision underscores the board’s commitment to conducting a thorough and robust search and recognizes the complexity of the presidential search process. Extending the timeframe ensures the board can diligently navigate all the necessary phases inherent in the process, providing sufficient time to identify the best candidate to lead Madison College.
“Selecting the next president of Madison College is the most significant responsibility of the District Board, and we cannot compromise on process, timeline, or our ability to attract a highly qualified and talented pool of candidates,” said Madison College District Board Chair Donald D. Dantzler. “Our priority, and our commitment to the twelve counties we serve, is finding a leader who will champion our mission, strengthen our community and workforce partnerships, and guide us toward continued excellence. Madison College plays too important a role throughout our region to not ensure we have the best possible leadership at the helm.”
As part of this decision, the board also announced Madison College President Jack E. Daniels has graciously accepted its request to continue leading Madison College through December 31, 2024. President Daniels, originally slated for retirement on June 30, 2024, announced his retirement this past October.
“President Daniels’ willingness to extend his tenure demonstrates his commitment to our institution and the greater community,” Dantzler said. “His leadership provides continuity and steadiness, and the board is very appreciative. Additionally, our students and employees will continue to benefit from his presence, the many partnerships he has cultivated, and the key initiatives and projects the college is advancing."
The Madison College District Board of Trustees will communicate updates to the presidential search timeline in the coming weeks.
