Madison College’s total enrollment increased 6% this fall, adding more than 1,000 students, compared with last year.
Growth occurred in all three categories of new, continuing and returning students, says Dr.
Tim Casper, Executive Vice President of Student Affairs.
"This fall’s increased enrollment is a clear sign that more students see Madison College as the place to take their next step,” Casper said. “This growth shows a renewed commitment to affordable, accessible education and opportunity. It’s a win for our students and a vital investment for the communities we serve.”
Madison College’s strongest enrollment growth continues to be from students 22 years and
under, Casper said.
“When the pandemic hit in 2020, many students just beyond high school age found themselves navigating a strong job market, and a shift to remote learning didn’t appeal to them,” Casper said. “Now that things have settled, we’re seeing those older Gen Z students returning to college.”
Enrollment growth across campuses
Campuses at Truax, Commercial Avenue, Reedsburg, Portage and Watertown had substantial enrollment growth, while enrollment at Goodman South Campus and Fort Atkinson remained steady.
These enrollment increases highlight the access that Madison and rural students have to learn close to their homes, jobs and families.
The college saw the growth of full-time equivalent students in all the schools this fall, especially in the arts, humanities and social sciences, as well as STEM. Protective human services saw a boost of 50 students, with an expansion of emergency medical training.
Enrollment for Black, Hispanic, Native American, and Asian students increased this fall compared to the last two years, alongside a rise in multiracial and White student populations.
Final enrollment counts will be reported at the end of the 2025-26 academic year.
