Biotechnology Careers

The biotechnology industry is constantly changing and adapting to the needs of our society, coming up with new products and techniques. Careers vary widely depending on the type of industry, company and job level.

In biotechnology, there are five main areas of jobs:

How Will I Learn?

As a Madison College biotechnology student, you’ll receive training in various industry techniques and gain hands-on experience from day one using modern equipment found in industry labs.

In addition to learning technical skills, you’ll also work on your soft skills through a variety of real-world experiences and projects.

Laboratory Support Assistant

9 CREDITS | 1 SEMESTER | TECHNICAL DIPLOMA

We have a biotechnology technical diploma embedded into our two-year A.A.S. (Associate of Applied Science) degree. The diploma can be completed in just one semester, providing a fast track to entry-level positions in the biotechnology industry.

Biotechnology Laboratory Technician

68 CREDITS | 2 YEARS | ASSOCIATE DEGREE

You’ll expand on the biotech fundamentals acquired in the technical diploma courses and further enhance your communication and teamwork skills through real-world experiences and projects.

Biotechnology associate degree graduates are ready for a range of professional positions, from working in the laboratory or production (biomanufacturing) to biotech project management, supply chain management, human resources, quality control and many other aspects of the industry.

Our biotechnology post-baccalaureate certificate is a flexible and individualized program you can complete in one semester or over several years. This programs is for people who are either:
