College Readiness classes pave the way for your academic success!
Our college readiness classes are designed to help you improve your core reading, writing, and math skills. They also help you fulfill prerequisites or gain access to higher-level program classes sooner.
College Readiness Classes
College Readiness includes the following types of classes:
Sector. These classes provide foundational learning in “career pathway sectors” or interest areas relevant to your chosen college program. Based on English and Math placement scores, these classes may be required for entrance into degree-credit program classes.
Sectors include: Arts, Business, Health, Service and Technical Careers.
Corequisite. Degree-credit classes in English and Math. Corequisites are a way for students to start degree-credit course work by paring a degree-credit class with an academic support workshop.
How to Enroll
ACT and placement test scores identify students who qualify for these classes.
- If selected, you will receive a results sheet that lists your required class(es).
- You may be assigned to a Communications (Reading and Writing) or Math class or both.
- Your specific class(es) will be based on your chosen sector.
We recommend meeting with an advisor to help plan your first-semester schedule.
When and Where
Sector classes are offered during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters, so you can get started right away. These classes are available online, hybrid and in person on multiple campuses.
Sector Classes Are Free
If you’re a resident of Wisconsin, there is no charge for sector classes. Your tuition costs will be covered by grants.
Get Financial Aid Credits
Sector classes will help you meet your financial aid credit-hour requirements.
While these are non-degree-credit classes, they have credits that count toward your full-time or part-time status for financial aid.
Communications (Reading and Writing) classes are 4 credits and Math classes are 2 credits.
How to Get Started
