Madison College’s accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) advances the Vision 2030 strategic planning goals, reflecting ongoing dedication to quality, accountability and improvement.

Accreditation is vital to Madison College's ability to serve students, employers, and the community. It secures federal financial aid, making education possible for thousands of students each year.

This year’s focus is part of HLC’s 10-year Open Pathway Process, culminating in a comprehensive evaluation. In April 2026, the college will submit a comprehensive report, a federal compliance review and a multi-campus visit report. An HLC evaluation team will then visit Madison College in early May.

The review centers on five criteria: mission clarity, ethical conduct, teaching and learning, student success and sustainability. Together, these reflect daily work across the college.

Faculty, staff and leadership contribute to accreditation through reports, review teams, and campus sessions. Board members participate in preparation meetings and sessions with the HLC team.

While accreditation is evaluative, college leaders emphasized that it also celebrates the strong work already underway to support student success and social and economic mobility, aligning it with the Vision 2030's commitment five.
