Not too many 14-year-olds create their own companies. Then again, Nabil Hamdan is not your typical teen.

The Madison College Early College STEM Academy student - now 18 - is founder of the eco-friendly company The World of Bamboo. Nabil's handmade bamboo straws, toothbrushes and other accessories provide an alternative to plastic products, which are polluting the nation's beaches and oceans/lakes. His bamboo products were recently featured on NBC's TODAY show and picked up by the online news publication Madison365 and its podcast It's Only 10 Minutes.

“It’s just a wonderful thing to be featured on a well-known, national television show like that," Nabil told Madison365." “So cool.”

You can see all of Nabil's products on The World of Bamboo website.
