Madison College Reedsburg nursing student Angela Colvin is one step closer to her goal of serving her community thanks to a scholarship supporting the next generation of health care professionals.

The scholarship supports students in the Madison College Reedsburg nursing program, which trains nurses to serve communities across south central Wisconsin.

Colvin received a $2,000 scholarship funded through the Madison College Reedsburg “Celebrate a Nurse” 5K Run/Walk. This year’s event is set for Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Reedsburg campus.

Colvin, who entered her second semester in the nursing program this spring, says returning to school later in life has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her life.

“Receiving this scholarship inspires me to work even harder and to one day give back to the people and families of our local communities with the same compassion and dedication that Madison College has shown to me.”

Colvin plans to help her community after completing the program.

“I look forward to serving this area as an RN and contributing to the health and well-being of those in need,” she says.

The Celebrate a Nurse 5K welcomes runners and walkers of all ages and abilities and includes a 5K race, a 1-mile walk/run and a virtual 5K option. Participants receive post-race snacks and the opportunity to compete for awards, including prizes for the top finishers in each 5K age group and the fan-favorite Most Creative Team Costume.

Registration is $30 for community members and Madison College employees and $25 for Madison College students and alumni. Participants who register by April 15 will receive a commemorative T-shirt.

For more information and to register, visit the Madison College Celebrate a Nurse Run/Walk web page.

Madison College Reedsburg is a health care-focused campus offering Associate Degree Nursing, Nursing Assistant and EMT training opportunities. The nursing program admits new students in both the fall and spring semesters.
