Lt. Gov. Rodriguez's visit spotlights STEM education

Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez visited Madison College on Oct. 18 to highlight the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education and its impact on the state’s workforce and future economy.

The tour at Madison College's Truax campus included state-of-the-art STEM facilities, labs supporting electro mechanical technology and mechanical design programs. Lt. Gov. Rodriguez was joined by Madison College President Jennifer Berne, Madison College STEM Dean Kevin Mirus, along with faculty and students in STEM and aerospace education.

During the tour, program faculty shared how Madison College prepares students for high-demand technical careers and contributes to Wisconsin’s growing need for a skilled STEM workforce.

Students participated in a roundtable discussion at the STEM Center with Lt. Gov. Rodriquez and shared their educational experiences, future goals, and the challenges they face both in and out of the classroom.

Lt. Gov. Rodriquez said that beyond providing students with world-class facilities and strong institutional partnerships, Madison College is giving both college and high school students incredible opportunities to learn more about STEM.
