Madison College's Career Discovery youth camps offer fun, interactive educational experiences for children in grades 5-12. Our camps are designed to enhance your child's knowledge and personal growth with exciting hands-on classes, labs and experiences customized for youth.

- 5-day camps run Monday – Friday
- Enrollment based on grade level in Fall 2025

Baking Camp | $150 - Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12
Learn how to make delicious baked items from scratch using ingredients you may already have in your cupboards! You will learn how to take base recipes and change them into many different varieties by what fun mix-ins you add to it! Explore careers in the baking industry, such as baker, cake decorator and more.

Cake, Cookie and Cupcake Decorating | $150 - Grades 6-8
In this DECORATING ONLY class, students will work with fondant, buttercream, and royal icing to create adorable puppy cupcakes, edible watercolor cookies, and frost and decorate a cake. NO baking will be done in this class. You’ll bake in the state-of-the-art Baking Lab at the Truax campus to create your own tasty treats! Explore careers in the baking industry, such as baker, cake decorator and more.

Calligraphy and Watercolor Art Camp | $150 - Grades 6-12
The camp is specifically designed to cater to the creative development of young participants. Mornings will be dedicated to instructing children in the foundational principles of calligraphy, introducing them to the art form in an engaging and age-appropriate manner. Through interactive lessons and hands-on activities, our instructors will guide young learners in mastering the basics of lettering and penmanship. In the afternoons, the focus will shift to applying calligraphy skills in a playful and imaginative way. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the fusion of calligraphy with watercolor techniques and the creation of personalized cards. The activities are thoughtfully crafted to be both educational and enjoyable, fostering a love for artistic expression in a supportive environment. The camp endeavors to inspire creativity, enhance fine motor skills, and instill a sense of accomplishment in the young participants as they embark on their artistic journey.

Kids Sewing | $150 - Grades 5-9
Everything your child needs to feel confident on a sewing machine and ready to take on more projects. This kids intro to sewing camp will cover all of the fundamentals that will introduce your child to the basics of sewing and build their sewing skills. This is great for beginners who want an in-depth introduction to sewing and the confidence to take on more projects. What You'll Learn: Common sewing terminology, patterns and the information they contain, basic operation, parts, and functionality of a sewing machine, fabric grain lines and direction, seam allowance, straight stitching, seam matching, sewing circles using a free arm and alternate techniques for sewing cylinders, introduced to interfacing, and pattern matching.

Bio-Technology | $150 - Grades 7-10
Explore the world of cells, DNA, genes, microbes and learn how medicines are developed and tested. Dive into Biotech though hands-on experiences that pave the way for STEM careers in bio-energy production, agricultural bio-sciences, biomedical & molecular biology research, development, and industry.

Beginning Welding | $125 - Grades 8-12
Help your child explore the world of WELDING with our FUN and HANDS-ON summer camps! Campers will design and build projects from start to finish, creating pieces they can show off with pride! They’ll also visit local manufacturers for behind-the-scenes tours and demos.

This camp will Introduce student to basic manufacturing processes and to CAD/CAM/CNC Manufacturing processes.

Engineering in a Box | $150 - Grades 7-12
Explore how the digital worlds of mechanical and electrical engineering collide to produce many of the products we see today. In this camp you will build your own machine while learning design, programming, and electrical skills. 3D print your device and customize it with laser engraving. No experience needed, but imagination is encouraged.

Protective Services Camp | $150 - Grades 8-12
Come explore what it's like to work in the protective services. This exciting 3-day camp will provide you with a look into the rewarding career of Police Fire and EMS. This is a 3-day camp that you are required to attend all 3 days. The Students will have one day with the Law Enforcement program experiencing what its like to be a police officer. 1- day with Emergency Medical Technicians getting certified in hands only CPR and stop the bleed. 1 day as a firefighter wearing the turnout gear and experience the physical demanding job of firefighting. Some Special Visits and equipment will also be shown.

NitroX | $250 - Grades 7-9
Sponsored by the Wisconsin Automobile & Truck Dealer's Association and by numerous local business owners. To ensure that your child gets the most enjoyment out of this camp and if there was a prerequisite, it would be that your child is very interested in cars. Learn technical skills while challenging yourself to drive remote controlled vehicles competitively on our racetrack. Lots of hands-on activities are planned, as well as field trips to local transportation businesses.

A week in the life of a Healthcare Professional | $200 - Grades 9-12
Are you interested in a career in healthcare? Come to Madison College to experience a day in the life of several health occupations! The occupations include Nursing, Emergency Medical Technician, Respiratory Therapy, Dental Assisting, Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Optometric Technician. In this week-long camp, you will participate in hands-on activities that simulate real life experiences in a healthcare setting.

Monster Camp | $150 - Grades 5-8 and Grades 9-12
Hero & Monster World Building in Virtual Reality. Students begin by making their own digital hero/monster with online 3d creation tools like Hero Forge and Eldritch Foundry. From there we import digital copies of each student’s miniature into mainstream VR Art apps (Open Brush & Gravity Sketch), expand them to be life-size (or bigger) and build an entire world for them to inhabit. Every setting a possibility… from full fantasy, to structured urban planning, nature scenes, or really anything. Each project is unique and student-directed, all art styles are encouraged. Instruction is designed to meet students where they are skill-wise and help them grow. Seriously… we literally start with tracing techniques in 3d. All skill levels welcome. No previous experience necessary. At. All.
