Residency requirement: Non-residents may take the course these courses, however, you must be a WI resident to obtain a CCW permit in Wisconsin.
Handgun Fundamentals / Concealed Carry
Both courses instruct you on proper handling, storing and carrying of handguns and satisfies the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) training requirement.
- Age 21 and over
- No felony convictions
- No domestic abuse injunctions
- No legal restriction to carry a firearm
Madison College is limiting face to face training through Fall semester. CCW and handgun fundamentals classes will not be offered before Spring 2021.

Concealed Carry (CCW) - 6 hr
This six-hour course will qualify you to apply for a Wisconsin Concealed Carry permit. We will cover the legal issues of carrying and using weapons and Wisconsin CCW permit requirements and licensing. There is no live fire portion.
No weapons or ammunition are allowed in class. Training weapons are provided.
Handgun Fundamentals - 8 hr
This eight-hour class will prepare you to safely handle firearms and train you in the five basic fundamentals to accurately fire the weapon. This course combines classroom with a live fire component. This class will qualify the you to apply for a Wisconsin Concealed Carry Permit.
EQUIPMENT: Students must provide their own hearing protection, eye protection, weapon, holster and 100 rounds of ammunition.
