Get ready for a very tall rabbit.
"Harvey" is a play about Elwood P. Dowd, a gentle and wealthy man who lives with his social-climbing sister, Veta, and her daughter, Myrtle May. But there's a problem. Elwood’s best friend and confidant is a white rabbit that's more than 6 feet tall and is invisible to everyone except Elwood.
The family worries Elwood has gone insane. So, they put him in a sanitarium. It turns out to be an ideal location for a comedy of errors, eventually proving Elwood may be the sanest person in the room.
Harvey was written by American playwright Mary Chase, who received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1945. The play has been adapted for film and television several times, most notably in the 1950 film starring James Stewart.
"We are so excited to bring this classic comedy to the Mitby stage," said producing manager and department chair, Miranda Hawk. "It’s just the type of warmth and smile we need right now.”
