Shop early this holiday season

The holiday shopping season is right around the corner. But this year, you might want to start your gift hunting even sooner.

Madison College marketing instructor and retail expert Betty Hurd told In Business Magazine there are a number of factors that are causing problems this year. They include the electronic chip shortage, shipping delays, the trucking shortage and the pandemic.

"I don’t think we’ve ever faced anything quite like this. Certainly, we’ve never been a global economy like we are now, where we do really rely on each other to get things done," Hurd told In Business. "So my feeling is if there is something you’re looking for and you find it, get it."

Hurd says she hopes people will not hoard items and drive up prices this holiday season.
