Jose Villareal named 2025 Wisconsin Technical College System Ambassador
Student Jose Villarreal is motivating others to pursue higher education as the 2025 Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Ambassador from Madison College.
Villarreal is pursuing an associate of arts/science degree in the university transfer program. He plans to transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to earn a bachelor's degree in biology.
WTCS selects one student from each of Wisconsin's technical colleges to participate in a leadership and recognition program.
Villarreal hopes to motivate others to pursue a technical college education. His journey is already an inspiration to others. After high school, Villareal worked full-time because he didn't think he could afford college.

"Now that I have spent time in the workforce, I know the impact of not having a college education," Villarreal says. "To provide a better life for my family, I enrolled in Madison College. It's important to me to lead by example and attend college to show my daughter that education is achievable. "I want her to know that a well-rounded education will benefit not only her but our community as a whole.”
He works for Exact Sciences Corp. in Madison and aims to help develop early cancer diagnostics.
"Madison College helps me attain my goals because it's affordable, flexible, and welcoming to people of all backgrounds," Villarreal says. I have all the resources that I need to attend school here."
