Madison College instructor sworn-in as Dane County's first Black sheriff

It’s official.

Criminal Justice instructor Kalvin Barrett is the new Dane Co. Sheriff. Barrett, who became the county’s first Black sheriff during a ceremony earlier this week, says one of his goals is to build community trust.

The Wisconsin State Journal, Channel 3, Channel 15 and Channel 27 all did stories on his swearing-in ceremony. Barrett also did a special one-on-one interview with Channel 15, where he talks about his job at Madison College.
