Madison College wins Eduardo J. Padrón Award for Institutional Transformation
Madison College has received Campus Compact’s Eduardo J. Padrón Award for Institutional Transformation.
The award recognizes community colleges that have successfully implemented institution-wide efforts to address issues of public concern by aligning teaching, research, practice and values in service of the common good. Recipients are institutions that have undertaken comprehensive efforts to advance the values articulated in Campus Compact’s 30th Anniversary Action Statement of Presidents and Chancellors.
Campus Compact says Madison College is committed to creating transformational change within its diverse communities. They say this is evidenced by the college's recent, deep investments to provide access to historically underserved populations, strengthening community relationships and confronting racial inequities that have negatively impacted communities.
“We could not have done any of this work on our own,” said Madison College President Jack E. Daniels, III in a letter supporting his institution’s nomination. “At the core of our work is co-creating mutually respectful partnerships in pursuit of an equitable future. Indeed, it is the most meaningful way to create the change we need for the advancement of our communities.”
The Eduardo J. Padrón Award for Institutional Transformation is presented as part of Campus Compact’s Impact Awards, which recognize the outstanding work of individuals and institutions in pursuit of the public purposes of
higher education. You can read more about this year’s award recipients at compact.org/2022-impact-award-recipients.
