Program Overview
Work Description
An IT-Cybersecurity professional protects, detects and defends organizational data, networks, databases, hardware, firewalls and encryption. Cybersecurity professionals may also regulate access to computer files, develop firewalls, perform risk assessments and test data processing systems to verify security measures. Cybersecurity professional may work with organizations to maintain organizational information security through planning, coordinating, and implementing information security programs.
Training
- 2-year training program
- 4000 hours of on-the-job training
- 288 hours of paid related instruction
- 6-month probationary period

Mandatory Duties- Research IT Frameworks & Processes
- Monitor Information Sources (i.e. SIEM, firewall, etc.)
- Assess data/network vulnerabilities
- Assess system configurations
- Train end users on cybersecurity awareness
- Assess network security configurations
- Assess application configurations for security
- Assess security impact of third-party and service providers

How to Apply
IT-Cybersecurity Apprentice applicants must find an apprenticeship with a sponsoring employer on their own (similar to looking for a job). Once the applicant has found a position, the employer starts the apprenticeship registration process by contacting a Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS) Representative for their county.
Application Requirements
- At least 17 years of age
- Hold a valid government-issued photo identification
- Have a valid driver's license
- Meet the physical requirements of the job
- High school diploma or equivalency
