It's recommended that students complete prerequisite requirements first as they can improve success in the testing requirement.
If fulfilling any of the prerequisite requirements with courses completed in high school, college, or at Madison College, a grade of C or better is required. A grade of C- will not be accepted.
ALGEBRA
Students must demonstrate algebra competency in one of the following ways:
1. Test Scores: Minimum test score must be from September 1, 2014 to present:
- ACT Math 20+
- ACCUPLACER (Elementary Algebra) 65+
- COMPASS (Algebra) 40+
- ATI-TEAS (formerly TEAS-V) Math 63.3%+
2. Courses: One semester of college-level algebra. Madison College courses that satisfy this requirements are:
- College Math (10804107) or higher
- Mathematical Reasoning (10804134) or higher
- Applied Math for Chemistry (77854756)
3. Educational Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related biological science
CHEMISTRY
Students must demonstrate chemistry competency in one of the following ways:
1. One year of high school chemistry with lab components; high school chemistry classes must be college-preparatory
2. One semester of college-level chemistry with lab components. Madison College courses that satisfy this requirement are:
- General, Organic, & Biological Chemistry (20806201)
- General Chemistry (10806134) or higher
Note: Liberal Arts Chemistry (20806200), Chemistry for the Community or similar classes do not satisfy this requirement.
BIOLOGY
Students must demonstrate biology competency in one of the following ways:
1. One year of high school biology with lab components
2. One semester of college-level biology with lab components. Madison College courses that satisfy this requirement are:
- Introductory Zoology (20806203)
- Principles of Animal Biology (10806105)
- Prep for Basic Biology (10836113) or higher
ENGLISH AND READING
Students must demonstrate English and reading competency in one of the following ways:
1. Test Scores: Minimum test score from September 1, 2014 to present:
- English competency – Students may demonstrate English competency in one of the following ways:
- ACT English 15+
- COMPASS English 46+
- ACCUPLACER Write 5+ and ACCUPLACER Sentence 70+
- ACCUPLACER Write 4+ AND ACCUPLACER Sentence 86+
- ATI-TEAS (formerly TEAS-V) English/Language Usage 60%+
- Reading Competency - Students may demonstrate reading competency in one of the following ways:
- ACT Reading 18+
- COMPASS Reading 80+
- ACCUPLACER Reading 80+
- ATI-TEAS (formerly TEAS-V) Reading 69%+
2. Courses: Madison College courses that satisfy this requirement are:
- Written Communication (10801195) or higher
- English 1 (20801201) or higher
- Academic Writing 5&6 AND College Reading Strategies (10808101)
3. Educational Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher
