Overview

This associate degree program meets the specific skill and knowledge requirements of Front End Developer positions. front end web developer is responsible for implementing visual elements and interactivity that users see in modern web applications. Front end developers use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with numerous JavaScript frameworks, to code interactive web applications. Training blends general educational development with required IT technical skills for developers in government, insurance, manufacturing, service, wholesale and retail sales, utilities, banking and accounting.

Students in the IT-Front End developers program can attend full or part time.

The core classes unique to the IT-Front End Developer program are offered only during the day.

Outcomes

After completing the IT-Front End developer program at Madison Area Technical College, you will be able to: 

  • Write Front End web applications using modern technologies.
  • Write web applications using modern JavaScript.
  • Write Front End applications to access RESTful APIs to manipulate data.
  • Perform entry-level systems analysis and user-centered design to solve business problems.
  • Build websites using HTML and CSS.
  • Demonstrate work ethics and reliable behavior including, but not limited to, assuming responsibility for decisions and actions, utilizing time and stress management skills, and displaying initiative.
  • Work as a team member by demonstrating good communication and listening skills, cooperation, and providing a supportive environment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the IT field and its job roles, with emphasis on IT security and accessibility.
