Whether you walk, bike, carpool, drive, or take mass-transit, you need a plan to get to and from classes.

Transit service enhancements are piloted and funded by Student Commuter Services Fees; a program that provides students with an unlimited ride bus pass each semester.

Please keep in mind that underutilized services may be modified - which is why your feedback is welcomed and so important.

  • City of Madison Metro Transit Bus Pass

    Requirements:

    • Students enrolled in on-campus, degree-credit courses can receive an unlimited ride bus pass.
    • If you are taking non-degree, non-credit, or all online courses, you may purchase a bus pass for $50 at the Truax Campus Bookstore. You will need to bring your receipt to the Student Life Office (room B1260) to obtain your bus pass. At the Goodman South Campus you will pay the $50 at the front desk during open hours and they will issue your bus pass. Bus Passes for the summer semester cost $35.

    Process:

    1. Visit the Student Life Office at the Goodman South (room 109) or Truax (room B1260) campuses.
    2. Show your Madison College OneCard to the staff member issuing your bus pass. You will need a OneCard to receive a bus pass.
    3. The staff member will write your name on the top line of the bus pass in permanent marker.
    4. You will then fill in either your phone number, e-mail address, or Student ID number on the second line of the bus pass in front of the staff member issuing the card.

    Important Reminders:

    • Always carry your OneCard with your bus pass. You may be asked to show it to the Metro Transit driver when you board the bus. Students may be refused service if unable to show a valid OneCard upon request.
    • Valid dates for use are printed on the front of each bus pass. The student must be enrolled in qualifying classes (in-person, degree-credit) for the semester that corresponds with the bus pass.
    • You are the only one who may use your bus pass. It cannot be loaned or given to another person to use. If misused, bus passes may be confiscated and you may be held responsible through the college's student conduct process
    • Routes 80, 81, 82, and 84 near the UW–Madison are free to all and do not require an ID or a bus pass.
